- To study the physical properties of bitumen (i.e. Penetration test (ASTM D5 | AASHTO T49), ductility (ASTM D113 | AASHTO T51 | ASTM D6084), softening point (ASTM D36 | AASHTO T53), flash and fire point (ASTM D92), breaking point (EN 12593) etc.).
- To determine the physical properties of aggregates (i.e. Aggregate size and shape (ASTM C136 | C136M), abrasion (ASTM C131), specific gravity (ASTM C127-15 | AASHTO T85-91), impact value (ASTM D5874) etc.).
- To determine marshal stability (ASTM D6927), flow test (ASTM D6927) and CBR of bitumen and asphalt mixtures (ASTM D1883).
- To study (through literature) the effect of modifiers in cement/bitumen/asphalt mixtures for flexible and rigid pavements and their failure mechanism using SEM (ASTM C1723-10).
- Study to find the level of service, signal timing for an intersection and traffic flow.
- Non-destructive testing of pavements.
- Site visit to study flexible and rigid pavement failures.
- Design of flexible and rigid pavements (including study of horizontal, vertical, transition curves and super elevation) using software.
