The Department of Pharmacy promotes excellence in pharmaceutical sciences by encouraging active learning in a conducive environment. To meet the challenges to healthcare and the pharmacy profession, the Department follows curriculum that not only provides a solid foundation of the discipline, it also equips our graduates with required skills and knowledge to practice as a quality health care professional to serve the community, hospital and industry. Furthermore, to enhance the understanding and to have a hands-on experience, most of the courses are supported by practical training in well-equipped laboratories and clinical settings. Regular visits to the industry, hospital and guest lectures by experts from various pharmaceutical sectors are integral part of the training.

Apart from pharmacy related courses, a number of general courses in the area of humanities, computer science and communication are compulsory in order to provide the students with a social and psychological perspectives of the training, thereby ensuring a balanced personality. All the faculty members are well qualified, competent and experienced to provide quality education.

After successful completion of pharmacy curriculum, students are awarded Doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. The graduates can serve hospitals, industry, drug regulatory authorities, academia and fulfill the increasing demand of pharmacists at national and international level. This program is designed to produce diversified concepts of Bioinformatics. The curriculum is a well thought out mixture of essential courses from biological sciences, computer sciences and mathematics. Keeping in view the modern requirements, the main focus is not only on biological research, a thorough understanding of divisive concepts such as database, programming and algorithms are also developed. Bioinformatics is a newly emerging field worldwide and more so in Pakistan. There is a growing scope for bioinformatics trained personnel in Pakistan in public sector as Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has declared it as a mandatory part of curriculum in all degree programs of biology. Therefore to cater the people from disciplines to bioinformatics, the course content of MS Bioinformatics program depends on the Bachelor’s degree which the student had earned. For instance, with a Bachelor in computer science, the candidate will have to study additional courses from the discipline of biological science to complement deficiencies in this area. Similarly, if the basic degree of candidate is in biological sciences then to complement the requirements, candidate will study more courses from the discipline of computer science, statistics and mathematics. Course advisors are assigned to help the candidate to make an appropriate choice amongst the offered courses to cover the deficiency the latest degree conferred. MS in Bioinformatics is a 2 years program comprising 4 semesters: one year for course work and one year for research/ Course work. The course work covers various areas from disciplines of Biological Sciences, Computer Sciences and Mathematics. In addition to core courses, students can choose from a number of elective courses in bioinformatics, computer sciences and biosciences.
