The course will compare and contrast the ways in which animals and plants acquire and process energy, nutrients and water, with particular attention paid to the relationship between structure and function. The animal physiology part begins with discussing the life processes of multicellular organisms, focusing at the level of organs and whole animals. The course will provide basic knowledge regarding the development and composition of tissues and organ systems in the animal kingdom.
The plant physiology part covers the uniqueness of plants and of plant cells, including anatomy, growth and differentiation processes, as well as stress physiology and flowering. Focus is given on cell wall synthesis, cell stretching, nutrition and natural products. Furthermore, the course discusses plant model systems, transformation techniques, in vitro culture of plants, tissue-specific gene expression and databases relevant to plant biotechnology[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1666597709819{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]CLO: 1.
